Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari’s book A Thousand Plateaus (Capitalism and Schizophrenia 2), which had a great impact in France when it was first published in 1980, has taken its place on the shelves with the translation of Dr. Lecturer Emre Sünter, one of the faculty members of our Visual Communication Design department.
Concepts such as rhizome, multiplicity or deterritorialization in A Thousand Plateaus have deeply affected many different fields and have become part of the vocabulary of contemporary thought. In this book, where many different beings appear, from ticks to neutrinos, from pieces of fabric to black holes, from knights sleeping on their horses to horse-drawn carriages, different disciplines such as anthropology, ethnology, ethology, mathematics or physics are addressed in line with the requirements of the task of creating concepts. In this plane where life and concepts are intertwined, philosophy ceases to be limited to a distant look at what is happening or texts and becomes a way of discovering new possibilities of expression.
