Kadir Has University 2022-23 Graduation Ceremony
Kadir Has University organized a graduation ceremony for the 2023 graduates on Sunday, July 16. Our academicians and families who filled the stands accompanied the enthusiasm of our graduates throwing their caps at the ceremony held at the Volkswagen Arena.
Our 2023 graduates came together with their friends, families and academicians at the Volkswagen Arena for a magnificent ceremony. The opening speeches of the ceremony were made by Kadir Has University Board of Trustees Chairman Nuri Has, Kadir Has Foundation Chairman Can Has and Kadir Has University President Prof. Dr. Sondan Durukanoğlu Feyiz. Those who could not attend the ceremony shared the excitement of our young people’s graduation with the live broadcast on Kadir Has University’s YouTube channel. The Manuş-u Âlâ group, which gave a mini concert at the ceremony, provided both our graduates and our guests with enjoyable moments with their songs.
“AN ENTREPRENEURIAL AND FORWARD-FINDING UNIVERSITY”
Starting his speech by reminding that the founder of our university, Mr. Kadir Has, was as excited as the graduates and their families at every graduation ceremony and said for our graduates, “You are my white doves that I send flying to the future,” Kadir Has University Board of Trustees Chairman Nuri Has stated that the number of white doves that have flown from Kadir Has University to the whole country and the world has reached 18,000.
Nuri Has, who stated that as an entrepreneurial and forward-thinking university, the education program, technical infrastructure and physical conditions where the best education will be provided are renewed and new structures are added to the existing ones when necessary, stated that Teknopark is at the forefront of these new structures: “After our Selimpaşa Campus is declared as a ‘Technology Development Zone’, we will soon put the Teknopark, which we established in partnership with Silivri Municipality, into operation. Here, we will provide our students, faculty members and graduates with the opportunity to establish and develop R&D companies.”
Nuri Has, who said that the construction of the Mechatronics and Civil Engineering Building has started in addition to the Molecular Biology and Genetics Research Center that was recently opened on our campus, gave the good news that this building will be completed as soon as possible and put into service as a new element of the perfectionist education structure.
“IT’S TIME TO SHOW YOUR DIFFERENCE”
Starting his words by saying, “Graduation qualifies you to have overcome many difficulties, developed yourself and stepped into life more prepared. It documents your advanced leadership skills, experiences, not only academic but also personal and social development. The knowledge and experiences you have gained throughout your university life have equipped you for your future success. Now, it is time to use this equipment and show your difference…” Kadir Has Foundation President Can Has encouraged the graduates to trust themselves and their abilities.
Underlining that the Kadir Has Foundation supports our university in every field, Can Has said, “Our university provides a free learning environment based on knowledge and research to all its stakeholders in line with the core values determined by the late Mr. Kadir Has, the founder of our Foundation. Values and goals such as patriotism, charity, perfectionism, loyalty to Atatürk’s principles and revolutions, and dedication to the society receiving a good education are in line with the vision of both our Foundation and our University in the field of education. This cooperation contributes to the development of our students as individuals at an international academic level.”
Can Has stated that they have been reaping new fruits of the support provided for over 25 years as the Kadir Has Foundation every passing day, and he stated that especially the national and international funds coming from the university’s own resources and scientific projects presented by the faculty members make our university even stronger: “In 2022, the number of active research projects carried out by our faculty members reached 147. The total amount of funds obtained from these projects increased by almost 100 percent compared to the previous year. These positive developments are behind our looking to the future with more confidence and increasing our investments with enthusiasm. I wholeheartedly congratulate our rector, administrators and faculty members who made us experience this picture.”
“WORK TO MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE”
Stating that the past five years have witnessed major transformations for both our country and the world, Kadir Has University President Prof. Dr. Sondan Durukanoğlu Feyiz said that we have emerged from a difficult period even stronger and that our university has become one of the leading research universities in our country. Stating that a research ecosystem including undergraduate and graduate students has been created as a result of devoted work, Prof. Dr. Durukanoğlu Feyiz drew attention to the creation process of the Kadir Has University Education Model:
“One of the main motivations of us academics has been research, and the other has been to raise different graduates. We have developed a new education model that will develop more human-centered alternatives in the face of savage economic and political systems, that will see our differences as richness and feed off of them, and that will raise graduates who will take into consideration the needs and competencies of today’s people: This is called the Kadir Has University Education Model. It was not easy to put this forward. We have set aside what we know and what we have been taught, and worked to develop an education model based on learning by doing, without exams.”
Stating that our graduates should work for much more just, much more human-focused systems that consider the freedom of individuals to be individuals, eliminate inequalities, are sensitive to the planet that provides us with life, and consider gender equality, Prof. Dr. Durukanoğlu Feyiz said, “While seeking solutions to the problems you will encounter, let universal human values and environmentalist approaches, your principles, and science be your guide. No matter how long life is, it is in your hands to turn it into a great adventure. Don’t just dream, work hard to achieve those dreams. Feed these efforts with your hunger for learning. Know that you will develop as you learn, and as you develop, you will reach your dreams much earlier.”
