How can I apply for Coursera?

To register for the Coursera courses, you need to make an application from MyKhas portal within the specified dates. After your application is approved, the course access information will be delivered to you by e-mail.

If you aim to only use the platform and watch the courses for learning purposes, it may be possible. However, if you want to earn credits for the courses, you must complete them within the specified time and upload the certificates.

In the scope of the pilot program, only the courses in the specified Coursera Course List are counted as ECTS. However, you can still complete courses that are not on the list, but they will not be added to your academic credits. To access the list, please visit: Coursera Course List.

You can earn up to 6 ECTS credits by taking a maximum of 150 hours of Coursera courses and count them as free elective courses.

Yes, however, the course substitution is limited to 150 hours / 6 ECTS. The additional courses you take are not added to your transcript; however, you can get certificates to use them for your own personal development.

No, Coursera courses are not included in your semester credit limit. Therefore, you can take Coursera courses in addition to the credits you are allowed to take for the semester.

Each 25-hour Coursera course is equal to 1 ECTS.

For example:

  • 25 hours of course = 1 ECTS (Minimum)
  • 75 hours of course = 3 ECTS
  • 125 hours of course = 5 ECTS
  • 150 hours of course = 6 ECTS (Maximum)

The ECTS value corresponding to the total hours of the Coursera courses you have completed will appear on your transcript as “KH-COURSERA Coursera Free Elective Course.” The names and contents of the completed courses will not be listed separately on the transcript.

Note: Course hours cannot be rounded, and at least 25 hours of a course must be completed to earn 1 ECTS credit.

Courses taken on Coursera can be counted as a maximum of 1 free elective course.

No, Coursera courses can only be counted as free elective courses. They are not counted as compulsory and free elective courses.

The courses you take on Coursera will primarily be credited towards your major program. Upon the student’s request, these courses can also be counted as free elective courses in double major programs. However, since there is no free elective course status in minor programs, it will not be possible to count these courses towards the minor.

Yes, they can be credited. The credit transfer requests must be applied within the period specified in the academic calendar.

Yes, if you are within the registration period, you can change the course. You can get support from MyKhas system or coursera@khas.edu.tr .

Yes, however, only the courses you successfully complete and earn a certificate will be credited. The uncompleted courses do not have a negative impact.

Yes, you must complete the Coursera courses before the end of the academic year. The course crediting process starts after you upload your certificates.

Yes, some courses on the Coursera platform have exams or assignments. To earn a certificate, you need to successfully complete these assessments.

  • Complete the course with the precondition.

Coursera courses will be graded with a “G” (Pass) mark. Therefore, they will not affect your grade point average (GPA). However, the courses you successfully complete are added to your credits.

No, there is no limit in earning certificates. You can complete as many Coursera courses as you wish and earn certificates.

No, only the courses completed during the access period provided by our university and courses completed in accordance with the specified rules can be credited. Coursera courses completed individually before the pilot program cannot be counted as course credits.
