From our Core Program academics Dr. Lecturer Member Yener Koç His project titled “Animal Husbandry Activities and Wealth Distribution in Nomadic and Tribal Communities in Western and Central Anatolia (1839-1876)” has been awarded support within the scope of TÜBİTAK 3501 – Career Development Program.
Dr. Koç’s project, supported by TÜBİTAK, covers animal husbandry activities in tribal and nomadic communities in Western and Central Anatolia during the Tanzimat Period (1839-1876) in the Ottoman Empire. The project aims to examine the type of animals raised, the amount of animals and the distribution of animals within the communities (wealth distribution) in tribal and nomadic communities living in these regions, in the context of 19th century developments such as the commercialization of agriculture and animal husbandry and the increase in the infrastructural power of the state, and with a comparative method on a geographical level.
