COMM Talks: Ahmet Öğüt

About the Speaker: He participated in a two-year artist residency program at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam in 2007-2008. Ahmet Öğüt is also an interactive artist who combines contemporary art with the practices of everyday life with an interdisciplinary approach; who makes small interventions in public spaces, opens up micro chaotic areas, and includes the audience in his works.

Öğüt has had solo exhibitions at the Artspace Visual Arts Center in Sydney, the Berkeley Art Museum, the Pacific Film Archive BAM/PFA’s MATRIX Program, and the Kunsthalle Basel. He was one of two artists representing Turkey at the Venice Biennale, one of the world’s most prestigious art events, in 2009. Among the group exhibitions he has participated in are Performa 09, the 3rd Visual Art and Performance Biennale, the 5th Berlin Biennale, and the 9th International Istanbul Biennale.

Ahmet Öğüt continues her work in Amsterdam, Berlin and Istanbul.
