KHAS Faculty of Art and Design (STF) Art, Design and Architecture Talks series is hosting Barış Arman. Moderated by Dila Okuş, “A Comparative Perspective on Theater Directing Education: KHAS Film and Drama and LAMDA Experience”, which will be moderated by Dila Okuş, will be held on Friday, October 14 at 14:30 at Galata Hall.
In the event, Barış Arman, one of our graduates of the Film and Drama MA program, will share his experiences in the LAMDA theater directing MA program, and will talk about master’s and scholarship opportunities abroad in this field, as well as directing education in performing arts.
About the Speaker: Director and actor Barış Arman started his undergraduate education at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Architecture and completed his undergraduate education at Haliç University, Department of Theater. He worked as an actor at Istanbul State Theater and Craft Theater. His translations were staged in various theaters. In 2017, he was among the 70 directors from all over the world who participated in Lincoln Center Theater’s Directors Lab. He completed his master’s degree in theater directing at LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts), where he went with a Chevening Scholarship. He graduated from Kadir Has University Film and Drama graduate program in 2022. After Hedwig and Angry Inch (Boiler Room), which received many awards at the Afife Theater Awards, Direklerarası Awards, Yeni Tiyatro Magazine, Üstün Akmen Awards and Sadri Alışık Theater Awards, he staged the plays A Trip in Ordinary (24th Istanbul Theater Festival) and Last Five Years (Tebdil-i Mekan). Barış Arman is interested in unconventional forms of theater and continues to work on audience-centered and site-sensitive performances.
