Graduation Process

Graduation Process

To graduate, a student must:

  • Complete all compulsory and elective course requirements of their program,
  • Pass all courses taken,
  • Complete at least 240 ECTS credits in total,
  • Have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.00,
  • Successfully complete the mandatory internship (if required).
  • At the end of each semester, the transcripts and graduation simulations of final-year students are reviewed by the academic advisor. The list of students who meet graduation requirements is submitted to the faculty secretariat.
  • The Faculty Board evaluates whether the student has fulfilled all academic requirements and makes the graduation decision.
  • The approved graduation decision is sent to the Directorate of Student Affairs.
  • The Directorate of Student Affairs reviews the Faculty Board’s decision. If no errors or missing documents are detected, the student is designated as “graduate” in the SPARKS system.
  • If the student has no obligations with the Information Center or the Financial Affairs Directorate, the leaving process is completed via MyKhas. If there are any pending obligations, the student must first resolve them with the relevant units before the leaving process can be finalized.
  • Before receiving their diploma, the student must register to Graduate MyKhas and fill out the required forms completely.
  • Students whose leaving process is complete and diplomas are prepared can collect their diplomas from the Directorate of Student Affairs on weekdays between 08:30 – 17:30, starting from the date specified in the academic calendar.
  • In mandatory situations, an electronically signed Temporary Graduation Certificate may be issued instead of the diploma.
  • Students whose leaving process has not been completed are not issued a temporary graduation certificate or diploma. All leaving procedures must be fully completed for any documents to be issued.
  • The diploma can only be delivered to the graduate in person or to someone authorized with a notarized power of attorney (the original document must be presented). If the graduate is abroad, the power of attorney must be obtained from a Turkish Republic representative office.

Graduation honors are awarded to the top three students at each level (university, faculty, department). In the case of a tie in GPA, students are considered to hold the same rank.

To be eligible for ranking:

  • The student must complete their program within the regular study period (excluding preparatory year: 8 semesters, for irregular students: 9 semesters).
  • The graduation decision must reach the Directorate of Student Affairs by the deadline specified in the academic calendar.
  • Students who transferred from other universities with lateral or vertical transfers must complete at least 160 ECTS credits at Kadir Has University and finish the program within the regular study period.
  • The student must not have received any disciplinary penalty (excluding a warning).
  • The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00.
  • Double Major Program students are also eligible for graduation rankings under the same academic conditions as other students. However, rankings are first determined among major program students.
  • While determining the double major students’ rankings, the positions of major program students are preserved. Therefore, even if a double major student has a higher GPA, their ranking is adjusted to the nearest suitable position without altering the ranks of major students. In some cases, multiple students may share the same rank within a department, even if their GPAs differ.
  • Graduation decisions submitted after the date specified in the academic calendar are not considered in ranking, regardless of the reason (such as Erasmus and Exchange programs, late grade entries from summer school or changes in the grades). The rankings are not updated based on these late decisions.
  • University / Faculty / Department Ranking Certificates are presented during the graduation ceremony. Graduates who cannot attend the ceremony may collect these certificates from the Directorate of Student Affairs.

To be eligible to attend the graduation ceremony:

  • The student must not have participated in a previous graduation ceremony.

Double Major Program students may attend separate ceremonies for both their major and double major programs.

  • The student must have no more than 26 ECTS credits remaining to meet the graduation credit requirement (excluding the internship course) or must not have unsuccessfully completed or unattempted courses remaining for graduation.

Graduation Ceremony

The date of the graduation ceremony is announced each year in the academic calendar. For detailed information about the ceremony or to ask questions, you can contact mezuniyet@khas.edu.tr .

Invitation and Participation Process

Graduates and prospective graduates who meet the graduation requirements receive the Graduation Ceremony Participation Form and invitations via the email address mezuniyet@khas.edu.tr . Students who wish to attend the ceremony must complete the form accurately and fully, and pay the deposit required for the cap and gown. Guest invitations will be distributed to students at the time of cap and gown pickup. As the number of guests allowed per student may vary each year, it is important to follow the announcements sent via email.

Students Who Have Not Yet Met Graduation Requirements

Students who have not yet fulfilled the graduation requirements may send a justified request to oid@khas.edu.tr after the spring semester exam results are entered into the system. These requests are evaluated by the Vice Rectorate for Education, and the student is notified about the outcome.

Graduation Photo Shoot

Each spring semester, a professional graduation photo shoot with cap and gown is organized on campus by the Events Unit. Students eligible for graduation, senior students (7th and 8th semester), and those who graduated after the previous ceremony are invited to participate. The Photo Shoot Appointment Form is sent to the relevant students via email.

Graduation Ball

The graduation ball is organized by the Campus Life Office. For detailed information or inquiries, you can contact the Campus Life Office via khasbalo@khas.edu.tr .
