Our Core Program Students’ “Children’s Theater: Disaster Awareness” Project Was Selected for IMM Participatory Budget
The “Children’s Theater: Disaster Awareness” project, developed by a group of our students in cooperation with the Istanbul City Council within the scope of the 2022-2023 Spring Semester KHAS110 Social Responsibility Project course of our Core Program, was among the projects selected for the 2024 IMM Participatory Budget.
Our Core Program students who developed the project were Hürmüz Sude Aydın (Industrial Engineering), Aydan Doğan (Interior Architecture and Environmental Design), Elifsu Akın (Management Information Systems), Şevval Esra Çimen (Business Administration) and Bengisu Çağan (Electrical-Electronics Engineering).
Purpose and Summary of the Project
- Preparing a theater play to ensure that children between the ages of 8 and 10 living in Istanbul have accurate information about earthquakes and how to behave during an earthquake.
- Children learn more about earthquakes through creative drama.
- This project will help children become aware of how to act during an earthquake and help them be prepared for the earthquake risk in Istanbul.
- Using neighborhood houses and nurseries belonging to IMM, especially in areas with high earthquake risk, as suitable places for the target audience of the project.
