We are looking for an enthusiastic PhD Student to work in Asst.Prof. Yasemin Onder’s TUBITAK 1001 Project entitled: “Structural and Metabolic Analysis of Astrocytic GABA Transporter GAT3 as a Therapeutic Target” The goal of this project is to understand the link between astrocytes and metabolism, and computational analysis of astrocytic GABA transporter GAT3 as a potential therapeutic target. This project is multidisciplinary combining computational methods such as in silico drug design, homology modelling, molecular dynamic analysis and wet-lab methods, including cell culture, molecular biology, advanced imaging and mouse models. It is a great opportunity for a candidate that is interested in both computational and wet-lab studies. Duration of the project is 36 months (with one year additional support for PhD students by TUBİTAK). Scholarship for PhD students is 24.000₺ (up to 30.000₺ with the additional life support fund provided by Kadir Has University). Must be in good standing (GPA at least 3/4). – Must have wet-lab experience (at least 2 years). – Experience with cell culture and using aseptic method is desired. Previous work experience with primary neuron and astrocyte cultures is a big plus. Experience with dissecting mouse brain tissue is a big plus. – Preferably experienced with basic molecular biology and biochemistry methods such as : qPCR, cloning, DNA/RNA isolation, western blot. – Preferably experienced working with mouse tissue and mouse handling. Experimental animal use certificate will be a bonus. -Basic coding skills such as Phyton and R studio is desirable. – Experience and knowledge for microscope is a plus. – Fluent English is necessary.
