PhD Student Position Available in TUBITAK 2232 Project for Understanding Neural/GlialBiology Underlying Metabolic Adaptation

We are looking for an enthusiastic PhD Student to work in Asst.Prof. Yasemin Onder’s
International TUBITAK 2232 Project entitled: “Analysis of Adaptive Mechanisms in Inhibitory
Neurocircuitry Underlying Metabolic and Neuropsychiatric Disorders.” The goal of this project is
to understand the energy-status dependent plasticity in inhibitory neurocircuitry at a molecular
and circuit level, employing multidisciplinary methods including cell culture, molecular biology,
advanced imaging and mouse models. Duration of the project is 36 months (with one year
additional support for PhD students by TUBİTAK). Scholarship for PhD students is 24.000₺ (up to
30.000₺ with the additional life support fund provided by Kadir Has University).

Requirements:

• MSc degree in Molecular Biology, Neuroscience or a similar field preferred for PhD applicants
  (or will receive MSc degree by Dec, 2024). Must be in good standing (GPA at least 3/4).
• Must have wet-lab experience (at least 2 years).
• Experience with cell culture and using aseptic method is desired. Previous work experience
  with primary neuron and astrocyte cultures is a big plus. Experience with dissecting mouse
  brain tissue is a big plus.
• Preferably experienced with basic molecular biology and biochemistry methods such as :
  qPCR, cloning, DNA/RNA isolation, western blot.
• Preferably experienced working with mouse tissue and mouse handling. Experimental animal
  use certificate will be a bonus.
• Experience and knowledge for microscope is a plus.
• Fluent English is necessary. Please send applications in English.

  TÜBİTAK 2232 Projesinde Çalışmak Üzere Doktora Bursiyeri İlanı
  Dr. Öğretim Üyesi Yasemin Önder’in “Analysis of Adaptive Mechanisms in Inhibitory
  Neurocircuitry Underlying Metabolic and Neuropsychiatric Disorders” başlıklı Uluslararası
  TÜBİTAK 2232 Lider Araştırmacılar Projesi’nde çalışmak üzere çalışmak üzere heyecanlı bir
  doktora bursiyer adayı aramaktayız. Projenin amacı beyindeki farklı metabolik durumlara
  gösterilen sinaptik adaptasyonun moleküler ve nöral ağlar düzeyinde incelenmesidir. Bu amaçla
  hücre kültürü, moleküler biyoloji, ileri görüntüleme ve fare modelleri gibi multidisipliner
  metotlar kullanılacaktır. Proje süresi 36 aydır (doktora öğrencileri için bir yıl ek TÜBİTAK desteği
  vardır). Doktora öğrencileri için burs miktarı 24.000₺ (Kadir Has Üniversitesi yaşam desteği ile
  birlikte doktora bursiyerleri için 30.000₺’ye çıkabilmektedir).
  İstenilen Nitelikler:
  -Üniversitelerin Moleküler Biyoloji, Biyoloji ve benzer bölümlerinden mezun ve/veya bu
  bölümlerde yüksek lisansını tamamlamış (GPA en az 3/4).
  -En az 2 yıl ve üzeri ıslak laboratuvar tecrübesi olan.
  -Hücre kültürü ve aseptik metot konusunda deneyim sahibi, özellikle farelerden nöron ve
  astrosit primer kültür tecrübesi ve fare beyni disseksiyon deneyimi tercih sebebidir.
  -Tercihen temel moleküler biyoloji ve biyokimya tekniklerine hakim (PCR, klonlama, DNA/RNA
  izolasyonu, elektroforez, western blot).
  -Tercihen fare dokusu ile çalışma ve fare ile çalışma tecrübesine sahip (Deney hayvan kullanım
  sertifikası tercih sebebidir).
  -Mikroskop bilgisi ve deneyimi tercih sebebidir.
  -İyi derecede İngilizce bilen (yazılı ve sözlü).
  -Sonuç odaklı, takım-oyuncusu, problem çözebilen, meraklı, yeni teknikler öğrenmeye açık.
