The CyberMACS Summer School, organized by Kadir Has University between June 10-14, 2024, with the theme of “OSINT, Malware and Artificial Intelligence for the Future of Cyber Security”, was completed successfully with the participation of 25 students from 16 countries.
About CyberMACS
CyberMACS is a full-time, 2-year Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Programme that aims to train future cyber security experts in the field of “Applied Cyber Security”. The program is a strong institutional collaboration between Kadir Has University (KHAS, Turkey), SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences (SRH, Germany) and Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Skopje, North Macedonia (UKIM, North Macedonia). It offers an integrated and international education program targeting the world’s best students. In the first year, students learn the basics of cybersecurity at Kadir Has University in Turkey. In the second year, they specialize in SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences in Germany or Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in North Macedonia The project is funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency.
About CyberMACS Summer School
The Summer School organized by CyberMACS is an important component of the master’s program and provides students with practical and applied learning opportunities by focusing on a specific theme in the field of cybersecurity. The first group of 25 students accepted to the program met with industry experts and academics to seek solutions to real-world cybersecurity problems. The program included various workshops led by experts, a field trip, student presentations, social activities, networking opportunities and a closing ceremony. The program included representatives from the Consortium Universities, speakers and trainers from cybersecurity companies.

Expert-Led Workshops
CyberMACS Summer School aims to deepen knowledge and provide students with practical experience in cybersecurity, and hosted comprehensive hands-on workshops on various topics by renowned speakers from industry and academia:
Interactive Seminar
Hristina Mihajloska Trpcheska (UKIM) gave an interactive seminar on “Securing the Future: Lightweight Passwords for Small Device Security”.
KPMG-Turkey Field Trip/Company Visit/Workshop
During their field trip to KPMG-Turkey, students had the opportunity to participate in group work, discussions and brainstorming sessions led by company partner Ümit Şen on emerging technologies, cyber risks and the potential impacts of these risks on organizations.
Three-Minute Student Presentations Workshop
Students shared their accomplishments, publication ideas, and potential thesis topics with attendees and received feedback from professors.
Networking Opportunities
The Summer School connected students with peers, mentors, potential employers, and internship providers, encouraging collaboration and professional development within the cybersecurity community. For example, two of our students were able to intern at Malwation and also receive mentorship from the RD company, gaining a rich perspective on the industry.
Social Activity: Bosphorus Tour
The last day of the summer school was a fun and friendly closing with a Bosphorus Tour. The participants had a pleasant Bosphorus Tour accompanied by the beautiful Bosphorus air and the iconic historical and cultural beauties of Istanbul.
Closing Ceremony
While closing the 2024 summer school, Program Coordinator Prof. Dr. Hasan Dağ from Turkey and Local Academic Coordinator Prof. Dr. Reiner Creutzburg from Germany gave speeches about the importance of the program and plans for the future.
The CyberMACS Summer School brought together participants from different backgrounds and expertise levels, creating a supportive and inclusive environment for learning and collaboration.
