TÜBİTAK 3501 Project Grant Awarded to Dr. Afife İdil Akın Acar

It is our distinct pleasure to announce that the project coordinated by Asst. Prof. Afife İdil Akın Acar from the Department of Public Relations and Information and entitled “Online Consumption of Traditional Media, It’s Social Media Interaction and Reproduction Practices” has been funded by TUBİTAK 3501 – National Young Researchers Career Development Program.

At the intersection of these two statements, it is important to note that the extension of television programs beyond television screens has become one of the digital transformations that has accelerated rapidly in the last decade. Studies examining the relationship between television viewing habits, which continue to be an important part of daily life even though they are decreasing,  and increasing internet and social media habits have become important. In this proposed project, a case study will be conducted to understand the relationship between these two issues and how they can change and transform each other. Through survey, text mining and focus group study, we will examine who watches the Müge Anlı ile Tatlı Sert as well as other programs and for how long on television and other devices; how they interact with the program on social media, how they received the program, whether they created audience-generated content and lastly whether they think that this digital transformation has caused a change in the TV program.

Asst. Prof. İrem İnceoğlu takes part as a Researcher in the project—also Asst. Prof. Didem Türkoğlu takes part as an Advisor in the project.
